The joy in Ayodhya doesn't last long. As the story of Sita's abduction circulates about the city, Sita's worthiness as queen are called into question. Even as she and Rama rejoice at the announcement of her pregnancy, Rama is forced to make a heartbreaking choice - lose the respect of his people and his ability to rule, or send Sita away to protect her from the pain of their rumors. In this highly symbolic image, King Rama carries the weight of the rumors on his shoulders while they once again set the loyal and loving image of Sita on fire with accusation.
